Wings and Wheels Maryborough
Our drive day to Maryborough went well last Sunday with a good turnout of members and a variety of Renaults. We had a 750, an R5, an R12, an R16, an R17, a Fuego, four RS Clio’s and an RS Megane.
Most of us started from BP Calder (almost on time) at 9.30 am. Paul Stewart in his R17 joined us at Gisborne as we headed for the Moto Bean Cafe at Malmsbury. The cafe was an ideal place to stop for coffee with a couple of cars and a few motorcycles on display inside.
We then travelled on to Maryborough airport where there was an air display in progress as we arrived. Most of our group (all but me) were directed to the car display area to park. They decided my car was too new. I was a little disappointed with this having organised the day. I will eventually get over it.
Colin Stark was competing in the sprints on the airstrip in his A110 Alpine. The record for his class was 17.7 seconds. He managed to reduce this by 3.13 seconds to 14.57 seconds. Great effort.
It has been suggested that we make this an annual drive which we will consider but we may need to leave a little earlier to get the most from the day.

September Drive Day 20/09/2015 – Wings and Wheels Maryborough
Our drive day for September is to the Wings and Wheels display at Maryborough (see link below). We will meet at the BP on the Bendigo side of Calder Park at around 9.00 am for a 9.30 am departure. We will stop at the Moto Bean Cafe, 50 Clowes St, Malmsbury for coffee at around 10.15. Some may choose to join us there. If you are late at Calder Park, you should be able to catch up at Malmsbury.
We will then drive to the Maryborough Airport and decide how to proceed for the rest of the day.
Non car club members driving Renaults are welcome to come along for the day.
Contact Glenn Armstrong () if you require more information.

Drive Day 8th August 2015
Saturday Night ‘Observation’ Run
This run has now been done
Our drive day for August is a little different. For starters, it’s on a Saturday – catering for those of you who have your Sunday’s too chock full of other commitments to be able to get to a Sunday run. It’s also at night, well, evening actually – just to try something a bit different. It’s early in the month to avoid clashing with the second round of the Rob Roy Interclub Hillclimb challenge.
The run starts at the Tim Neville Arboretum in Bayswater Boronia* Ferntree Gully – 98-106 Dorset Rd (see map below).
It finishes… well, you’ll have to follow the driving instructions to find that out. All we’ll say is that it’s north of, and close to, the city. Each car will get an emergency envelope in case you get hopelessly lost or confused.
Before the run itself commences, the club is providing a barbeque dinner. The arboretum is well equipped with BBQs, tables, facilities and a great adventure playground for the kids. It would be well worth your time to have a good look around the place while you are there – be ‘observant’.
Start time is 5pm
We’d like to get an idea of the numbers of likely attendees for catering purposes so please either drop an email or text to Graeme ( ) or Geoff Rasmussen ()

“Wonder where the local French go for a taste of home? Wonder no more”. A La Bouffe is where you will experience true French hospitality.
When the French back home get together with friends and family to prepare a meal, when all the chopping, mixing and baking is done, the cook calls out “a la Bouffe” let’s eat, and everyone sits down to enjoy their home cooked meal. That is what you will experience at A La Bouffe an informal, friendly and delicious experience. No pretensions, just good friendly service and delicious food.
When French visitors are feeling home sick for some Poulet Basquaise or Clafoutis this is where they visit. Jacky Frenot and Gabrielle Dewan, owners of A La Bouffe Bar & Bistro, and CCOCA, invite you to come to a little corner of France in the middle of Prahran and South Yarra shopping precinct and indulge your senses with their extensive range of popular French dishes.
The parking situation is not a problem as the COMO car park is available close by as well as COLONNADE carpark at $7.00 for 12 hours.
Cost $35.00 per person. Bookings are essential as numbers are strictly limited.
Photos from June Drive Day
On the 28th June we had a drive day to Keith McIlroy’s at Buninyong to check out his car collection.
There were 18 members on the drive in 11 cars covering a wide variety of models. Tasmanian members Trevor and Deirdre Wise were included in the numbers.
A special thank you to Keith and his wife Jenny for making this possible along with some of their neighbours and with some Light Car Club of Ballarat members who brought along their cars and helped Keith on the day,
Photos of some of Keith’s cars and cars from the drive are here for your information (Thank you to Venus Lane for providing some photos).
Drive Day 28 June 2015
Keith McIlroys at Buninyong (Ballarat)
Our drive day this month is to club member Keith McIroy’s house in Buninyong (Ballarat). Keith has an interesting car collection which he has agreed to show us. Whilst the majority are Renaults, there are some interesting additions.
We will be leaving from opposite Shell Spotswood (Cnr The Avenue and Williamstown Rd) at 9.00 am.
You will need to bring your own food and beverages for lunch. A barbecue will be available for use for those so inclined. It would also be a good idea to pack folding chairs.
A link to Google maps is below. A copy of the route instructions is also attached. We plan to stop for coffee at Meredith before continuing to Keith and Jennys .
For those interested we will also go for a run to Mt Buninyong lookout before proceeding home.
