Grand Prix Display 2017

For this year we had 15 display place allocated.  Unfortunately Mike Garafillis R12 Gordini did not make it on the day.  We had many people interested in our cars, particularly the Alpines A110 and A310, and in the Renault 750. It cost each person $30.00 to display their car. In return they received 2 X 4 day general admission passes to the event. In addition, each person goes into a draw…

Renaults in Europe by Ken Marriott

As might be expected, there are Renault models and variants on the market in Europe that we never see in Australia. A recent trip to the UK, France and Germany highlighted this for me. However, my overall impression was that apart from the exotic Twizzy and the all-electric Zoe, some of the offerings were losing some of the traditional French uniqueness and flair. The new Espace –the big Renault—looked too much…

BEEAC DRIVE DAY – Sunday July 24

Last Sunday we had  15 Renaults (and a Mercedes) carrying 19 members and one potential new member for our drive day to the Farmers Arms Hotel in Beeac .  The potential new member had previously enquired about joining the club  and when I sent out the info I inadvertently selected “all contacts” instead of the social list. Even Vic Roads were advised of the run. We started from Glen Iris,…

June 2016 Drive Day – Garazi Garage and Liberator Bomber

We had an excellent turnout for breakfast at Garazi this morning. About twenty members and friends attended for breakfast and a talkfest. Not all came to see the Liberator so it was good that they joined us for breakfast. At about 11.00am we headed to Werribee and had guided tours of the Liberator and the restoration facility. As well as the Liberator they are also restoring a Boomerang (Australian designed…

June 2016 Social Day

The June Social Day is on the 19th and is a breakfast at Garazi Cafe in Yarraville followed by a visit to the B-24 Liberator bomber being restored at Werribee. Garazi Cafe is a cafe in a garage with old cars scattered throughout. Pretty cool.  The B-24 Liberator is an iconic 2nd World War bomber. The one in Laverton is the only remaining Liberator in the Southern Hemisphere and is one of only eight still existent in the world. It is being restored in an impressive World War II hangar on the old Werribee airfield – just outside Melbourne in Victoria. Meet at Garazzi Cafe at 9:30am – 107 Gamon Street, Yarraville
