On the 28th June we had a drive day to Keith McIlroy’s at Buninyong to check out his car  collection.

There were 18 members on the drive in 11 cars covering a wide variety of models. Tasmanian members Trevor and Deirdre Wise were included in  the numbers.

A special thank you to Keith and his wife Jenny for making this possible along with some of their neighbours and with  some Light Car Club of Ballarat members who brought along their cars and helped Keith on the day,

Drive Day 28 June 2015

Keith McIlroys at Buninyong (Ballarat)

Our drive day this month is to club member Keith McIroy’s house in Buninyong (Ballarat).  Keith has an interesting car collection which he has agreed to show us.  Whilst the majority are Renaults, there are some interesting additions.

We will be leaving from opposite Shell Spotswood (Cnr The Avenue and Williamstown Rd) at 9.00 am.

You will need to bring your own food and beverages for lunch.  A barbecue will be available for use for those so inclined.  It would also be a good idea to pack folding chairs.

A link to Google maps is below.  A copy of the route instructions is also attached.  We plan to stop for coffee at Meredith before continuing to Keith and Jennys .

For those interested we will also go for a run to Mt Buninyong lookout before proceeding home.

RCCV Sporting Champion

New club sporting competition for 2015

The club is introducing a annual sporting championship for club members. The competition is for a single ‘RCCV Sporting Champion’ across all sporting disciplines, be they hill climb, sprints, motorkhana or other.

The club doesn’t have the capacity to conduct competitive sporting events on it’s own so the championship is based on member’s results in events run by other clubs. Any CAMS affiliated club event in which a member participates in is eligible and members do not need to be competing in a full competition – for example, having a run at one of the Rob Roy Interclub Challenge hillclimb counts. It’s possible that singular success at a one-off event may trump a year’s effort in another competition if that resulted in little success.

The championship runs for a calendar year and ‘entry’ is automatic on entry into a CAMS club event anywhere in Australia. Competitors will need to provide advice of entry and results so we can maintain a tally. There’ll be a trophy and prize, and 2015 will be a trial year.

Scoring is
1 point for participation
3 points for 1st place, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd in class 10 points for an outright win at the event

Points will be based on the normal scoring method for that particular discipline of motor sport eg. Hillclimbs the fastest run is used and Motorkhanas the best elapsed time.

Renault Round-Up 2014

Renault Round-Up 2015 Flyer smallThe Renault Round-Up is on again this year in February. The Docklands Piazza redevelopment is still on hold so it’s still available for us.

We’re showcasing Renault commercial vehicles this time round – the marque has been having great success with the LCV (light commercial vehicle) range but this doesn’t appear to be widely known. With luck we’ll have an interesting dis- play of LCVs if negotiations are successful. If you know any- one with a Renault LCV encourage them to bring it along and be part of the show;; there’s a trophy category for them.

We’re also hoping to have a couple of the zero emission electric vehicles Renault have in Australia at the moment.

Awards will be given for Best Sporting Renault (sponsored by Auto Paris), Best pre-2001 Renault, Best post-2001 Renault (sponsored by Melbourne City Renault), Best Renault Commercial (sponsored by Renault Australia)  and Best Renault in Show (sponsored by Barry Bourke Renault).
